Annual Review showcases Knauf Insulation’s achievements in a year of challenges
We are excited to announce the launch of our 2022 Annual Review ‘Insulation Matters’.
30.11.2022When it comes to insulation and your building project, we believe it’s important that you make the right choice, so that you can reduce your reliance on appliances such as geyser timers or blankets, gas heaters, underfloor heating, air conditioning, heat pumps and solar systems.
The decision you make will also become increasingly relevant, especially when you take into consideration the likely introduction of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) arriving in South Africa in the not so distant future.
But what exactly are EPCs? And why are they important to domestic or commercial property owners?
Energy Performance Certificates, or EPCs, tell you how energy-efficient a building is and provide you with a rating from very efficient to inefficient. EPCs give an indication on how costly a building will be to heat/cool and light, and what its carbon dioxide emissions are likely to be.
For example, all domestic and commercial buildings in the UK that are on the market to buy or rent must have an EPC. The EPC also identifies the energy efficiency rating that can be achieved if these improvements are made, and highlights cost-effective ways to achieve a better rating.
Other information an EPC provides includes:
• Age of construction;
• Glazing type;
• Fuel type;
• Boiler make and mode.
*Note: insulation is usually the most cost effective way to target energy savings and therefore offers the quickest payback.
At Knauf Insulation, we put the customer at the heart of everything we do, which means we are constantly looking at ways to improve our approach to energy efficiency and other critical areas such as fire safety where, for instance, our solutions offer the highest fire rating (Euroclass A1 non-combustible rating) and SANS 10177 part 5 and 10.
If you would like any further information about the above then please get in touch with a member of our team today.
Note: * Knauf Insulation was the first insulation manufacturer in the world to be awarded the Eurofins gold award for air quality.
